Manuscript Submission
We strongly prefer electronic submission of manuscripts.
Please submit the manuscript and tables as a Microsoft Word file attached to an e-mail message. The message can include your cover letter in the body of the e-mail message, or as a separate Word attachment. The message should be sent to jfp@uc.edu. We will confirm successful receipt of your manuscript by e-mail, or ask for the file in a different format or on paper (original plus 3 copies) if unsuccessful.
If you must send a paper manuscript, an original 3 copies should be sent to Jeff Susman, MD, THE JOURNAL OF FAMILY PRACTICE, Room 141, Health Professions Building, Department of Family Medicine, University of Cincinnati, Eden and Bethesda Avenues; Cincinnati, OH 45267; tel: 513-558-4021, fax: 513-558-3030; e-mail: jfp@uc.edu. Please include a copy of the manuscript on floppy diskette or CD-ROM with the printed manuscript.
Cover Letter: The cover letter should include the name, address, telephone numbers, and e-mail address of the corresponding author. The letter should make it clear that the manuscript is not under consideration by another journal, and that the final manuscript has been seen and approved by all authors.
Conflict of Interest: The authors should describe in the cover letter any affiliations or financial arrangements with any company whose product appears prominently in the manuscript or with any company making a competing product. Such information will be kept in confidence while the paper is under review. If the article is accepted for publication, the editor will discuss with the authors the manner in which this information will be communicated to the reader.
Third-party Support/Assistance: THE JOURNAL OF FAMILY PRACTICE does not accept articles that have been developed or written with financial support by a commercial entity (eg, pharmaceutical company, medical device manufacturer). JFP also does not accept articles whose authors have received writing assistance from a commercially sponsored third party, such as a medical education company or a publication planner. Authors who have received such support or funding (and entities that have supported such articles) should contact Christy.tetterton@qhc.com to explore supplement opportunities with the journal. Copyright Transfer: Immediately following submission of a manuscript accepted for review, the corresponding author will receive from the JFP office a notification of receipt that will include the assigned manuscript identification number and a copyright transfer form. The copyright form must be signed by each of the authors and returned to the JFP office prior to review of the manuscript.
